Creating the Monochromatic Image

Creating the Monochromatic Image

Creating the Monochromatic Image

Today’s digital photographic technology has opened new doorways to explore in the creation of black and white images. In this mentorship we will be taking the time to stir the gray matter and explore the creative visual possibilities of the monochromatic image. We begin with learning how to see in monochrome, then move through the technical aspects of in camera settings and adjustments. Putting the computer and Lightroom away we use the new technologies to create classic film like black and white images directly in the camera. We bring together the aesthetic and technical considerations for the monochromatic image providing a new vision for thoughtful and timeless image creation.

Creating the Monochromatic Image

As photographers, it is only when we see where we have been and where we are now that we begin to find direction in our work. Our challenge is to stop, explore, listen, and then understand what our photographic voice has to tell us. This mentorship is for all photographers aspiring to discover that voice.  We explore the challenges of the creative process, working in color or black and white, understanding our medium, discovering meaningful content, and developing a personal style of expression.  We understand how our photographic voice speaks to us, providing us with a constant stream of new photographic goals and personal fulfillment. We lean to listen to that voice.
